Life under the Taliban 10:00, 2001 (Ref: AS01190)

Description

Under the Taliban, Afghanis were banned from watching TV, listening to music and women were not entitled to an education. These were some of the restrictions under the Taliban. While in control of Afghanistan, the Taliban generated worldwide controversy. But while some blame the Taliban for worsening the effects of the dire humanitarian situation there, others say the hardline rulers could be the nation’s salvation. We explain the origins and beliefs of the Islamic movement. This film was made prior to 9/11, giving an insight into life in Afghanistan before Western forces invaded.
