Land Lust 15:00, 2004 (Ref: AF04116)

Description

There is a deep and emotional thirst for land in Zimbabwe. White-owned farms are being forcibly seized by blacks who believe that the land was stolen by their former colonial masters and they are now taking back what is legally theirs. But the seizures have led to wide spread poverty, homelessness and anger from both blacks and whites. The invasion of the farms has been orchestrated by President Robert Mugabe who believes it’s the only way to right the wrongs of white colonial rule in a country that was once described as the bread-basket of Africa. As we see in this documentary the organisers of the seizures are from the movement called the war veterans – those men who fought in the battle for independence of Zimbabwe. This film gives voice to both sides of the debate.
