Gay people
in Africa are facing increased persecution in a continent
where two thirds of countries retain laws against
homosexuals. Multi-award winning black African filmmaker
Sorious Samura investigates what it is like to be a gay
person in Africa, discovering shocking levels of prejudice
and hate, driven by governments, religious organisations
and communities. Samura looks at the impact extreme
homophobia is having on gay people’s lives, tracking down
the victims of a recent mob attack in Kenya, speaking to
gay men who have spent time in prison for their sexuality
and meeting African homosexuals who are often forced into

Africa’s
world war still lingers on in Eastern Congo. Foreign
rebels and government soldiers alike plunder the precious
minerals. Like gold, coltan and casserite. The local
population suffers. They have to work like slaves in the
dangerous shafts, are intimidated, robbed, killed or
chased away from their villages. Although NGO’s try to ban
the bloody trade from this war zone, the resources are
smuggled to neighbouring countries and exported to the

This year
Burma is scheduled to hold its first elections for
20-years – but without the participation of the main
opposition group the National League for Democracy (NLD)
led by Aung San Suu Kyi. The NLD won the last election in
1990 with nearly 90% of the votes, but was never allowed
to take power by the Burmese military. Since then there
have been several uprising – all crushed brutally by the
military. We entered the country undercover to find out
how Myanmar’s (the military’s name for Burma) people are
fairing and to investigate disturbing claims that the
regime may be trying to develop nuclear weapons. The film
contains video and interviews to support this claim...
