Description

A new Justice system has emerged in Syria. Islamic Justice is spreading with the rising power of radical Islamists as they take control of cities from retreating government forces.

In this documentary, The Battle for Syria’s Courts, we travel to Saraqib – a city south-west of Aleppo which was the scene of fierce fighting, mass killing, and even an alleged chemical attack.

Like elsewhere in Syria, the Islamists are now so powerful here that they have established a Sharia Court.

Islamic Justice is God’s Justice and the only Justice, say its advocates. Its opponents consider it a threat to civil society and to minorities.

This film is the story of four characters in Saraqib: two fierce supporters of Sharia Law and two secular citizens.
