Africa’s world war
still lingers on in Eastern Congo. Foreign rebels
and government soldiers alike plunder the precious
minerals. Like gold, coltan and casserite. The local
population suffers. They have to work like slaves in
the dangerous shafts, are intimidated, robbed,
killed or chased away from their villages. Although
NGO’s try to ban the bloody trade from this war
zone, the resources are smuggled to neighbouring
countries and exported to the west and the Far East.
Like to Belgium, the former coloniser.
