This documentary is a
radical departure from most films on Africa. It
features ten portraits of entrepreneurship
throughout the continent and offers African
solutions to African problems. It shows you Africa
as you've never seen it before. For example, in a
Bennetton look-alike shop in Lagos, Nigeria, Adenike
Ogunlesi smiles when asked if she wants to export
her children’s clothes to the US. She says Ruff ‘N’
Tumble – the “in” label in Nigeria – is building its
future on West Africa. “If 40% of the 140 million
people in Nigeria are children, I have a potential
of a huge market here,” she notes.
At a desolate tarmac in Somalia, Mohammed Yassin
inspects the runway making sure the airport is safe
enough for his planes. Despite Somalia having no
central government for more than a decade, the
private airline business is thriving, with more than
five carriers and constant price wars. |
