Madrid Bombings 26 minutes, 2005 Ref: 104tvc
Up until March 11th of last year, Antonio Miguel was just another history
student. Today, part of his new daily routine is physical therapy at Gregorio
Maraņon Hospital for his arm and legs. According to the doctors, he'll
need therapy for at least two more years. The trains on the line that
was the target of the attack pull into Coslada, on the outskirts of Madrid.
21 of the victims were from this town. Teo and Maribel lost their son
in the attack. Every Tuesday they meet other neighbours in Coslada who
also lost relatives in the attack to go together to Puerta del Sol Square
in Madrid. Their emotional ups and downs can make them forgetful at times,
but this is one date they never forget. Without looking to make new friends,
they have befriended Conchi and Carmen, other mothers who also lost their
children in the attack. Now they are inseparable and these ties somehow
help them get by. After the 11th of March bombings, the Madrid provincial
government took on 15 psychologists and 35 psychiatrists to help care
for the victims. This film gives a profile of the psychological traumas
felt by those who survived the bombings and by their relatives and friends.
