It is a perilous journey - thousands have died from dehydration and campaigners warn it will only get tougher as Washington attempts to clamp down. The US Senate voted to fortify parts of the Mexico border with walls and cameras - and this month President Bush sent in the first of 6,000 soldiers to patrol the frontier. One of their first deployments has been to Nogales, Arizona - where a 15ft fence already separates it from Nogales, Mexico.
