Gaza: Ban of Western Music
6 minutes, 2006 Ref: 467
We look at the battle of the airwaves in Gaza as Hamas tries to pull the plug on Western pop. Hamas’s victory in the Palestinian elections caused international alarm, because of the group's refusal to renounce violence and hard line stance on Israel. But there's also been concern about the result among Palestinians. Many non-Hamas voters fear that the group will now try to impose its version of Islamic law on The Palestinian territories, clamping down on anything considered 'haram' or forbidden. And that doesn't just mean alcohol.
