Darfur: Africa's Dirty War 28 minutes or 10 minutes, 2005 Ref: 447
The award winning journalist Philip Cox - the first western journalist to film the humanitarian crisis in Darfur - returned to Darfur to bring us this powerful report. He is one of the first journalists to travel and film with the African Union troops based in Darfur. They appear to be doing very little to help the situation and often seem unaware of the massacres taking place there. He also travels with the "nomads" of Darfur - the Sudanese villagers who wander the region trying to avoid being seen and captured by the despised Janjaweed militia - the men most responsible for the massacres and rapes in the region. And finally he visits the tens of thousands of refugees from this - Africa's worst conflict. They tell him their horrific stories of murder, rape and destruction and why they were forced to flee.
