A touching report
about the terrible psychological consequences to US
soldiers of fighting in Iraq. The US army has sent a
team of psychiatrists to Iraq amid alarming reports
that the number of soldiers suffering from post
combat stress is far higher than expected. This is
after a report last year that showed that one in
every six soldiers is exhibiting signs of
trautmatisted behaviour. And psychiatrists feel the
number may get far higher as Iraq’s insurgency
continues. 170,000 US troops have been through Iraq
in the past year. We talk with a family whose son
committed suicide last week. |
