Afghanistan: The First Lady 8 minutes, 2004 Ref: 417
When Afghans go to the polls on October 9th, 2004, in the first ever presidential elections there, women will be able to vote for the first time. And they will be able to vote for a woman. We had exclusive access to Dr Massouda Jalal's campaign, following her as she tried to persuade male voters, as well as women, that a woman could run their desperate country. She tells us why she understands Afghanistan’s terrible problems better than any of the 17 male candidates.
