Peru: Shining Path 8 minutes, 2002 Ref: 377
A guerrilla organisation, filled with hatred for America and a commander on the run. Not Al Qaida, but Peru's Sendero Luminoso or Shining Path, the group suspected of bombing the American embassy there in 2002 and responsible for the deaths of almost 40,000 people. Now one of the group's commanders, the subject of a US-backed manhunt, has spoken with us. "Artemio", as he is known, threatens to target US interests if the group's demands are not met. It is the first time ever that any member of the group has spoken to the international media.
