Uganda: Lord's Resistance Army 17 minutes, 2004 Ref: 353
We have a harrowing story from Uganda where every day, children are abducted and forced into sexual slavery and then forced to fight for the Lord’s Resistance Army. But more frightening is how common it is. It began 17 years ago when the LRA emerged in northern Uganda. From there and later from their bases in southern Sudan, the rebels abducted thousands of northern Ugandan children. If they resisted, they were killed. Despite the horrors, the world has paid Uganda little attention. We travelled there recently to speak with the victims, the families and the Ugandan army and found that the situation isn't improving - it's getting worse. Uganda has asked the United States for military assistance in its fight against the LRA, saying they’re linked to al-Queda – but with little to no evidence to support their accusation.
