Ethiopia: Averting a new Famine 5 minutes, 2003 Ref: 325
The images are unforgettable. Almost a million Ethiopians starving to death before our very eyes. Since that famine nearly 20 years ago now, Ethiopia set up an early warning system, a way to gauge if famine is looming once more. Now the alarm bells are sounding. It's been exceptionally dry in Ethiopia this past year. A severe drought is showing no mercy which means millions of people are suffering and aid agencies warn they could soon be starving. We travelled to Ethiopia to see what's being done to avert the crisis.
