What Turkey fears most about a war in Iraq is that it will open the door to a new Kurdistan in northern Iraq and inflame its own Kurdish separatists. Turkey shares a border with Iraq - and a Kurdish population aspiring to be an independent state. In any war with Iraq, Turkey is a crucial partner and a likely launching pad for U.S. air strikes. How does the US justify its support for Turkey, when that country has such a poor human rights record against the Kurds? We went to the Kurdish area of Turkey to find out more about the situation there.
