Egypt: Arab Anger & Frustration 10 minutes, 2002 Ref: 289
Not one Arab country wants a strike on Iraq and the US stance is causing anger and frustration in the Middle East. We went to Cairo, where we met Youssef Chahine, one of the Arab world’s most eminent film directors to hear his views. He’s had his run ins with Islamic extremists in Egypt, but is deeply critical of the US and their lack of understanding of the Arab world, describing Bush as “not too bright. And I fear people who aren’t so bright, especially when they wield enormous power. First he’ll attack Iraq, then what? Saudi Arabia next? Then Syria, then maybe us.” This is a report that gives a deep insight into Arab feelings about the US.
