Russians are fiercely proud of their drinking prowess. Last year they consumed a staggering 14 litres of pure alcohol per capita. But the love of a drink is also killing more and more Russians. There are over 150,000 alcohol-related deaths each year, and as many as 30,000 of those are due to alcohol poisoning caused by contaminated moonshine. We explore the high price Russia is paying for drowning its sorrows.
