The exodus is on the rise. Misery made worse by war, but spawned by decades of drought and internal conflict. Few Afghans make it across the border. Many end up at sprawling camps like one near Taloqan, a wasteland where aid can't get in and the people can't get out. It is a dismal existence that we observed first hand.
