Pakistan: Sufi Madness 12 minutes, 2001 Ref: 122
Mental illness takes many forms - from depression to eating disorders, or even schizophrenia. Along with drug therapy, a psychologist or psychiatrist is, in Western medicine, the accepted type of help. But in Asia not everyone has the opportunity, or even the desire to seek professional advice. In Pakistan, many people pay homage at the Shrine of a Sufi saint in the belief that it can cure them of their ills, and rid their souls of evil spirits. We visit the shrine and hear stories of black magic and miracle cures.
