Angola: Desperate Times 6 minutes, 2002 Ref: 106
Angola is in the grip of a humanitarian disaster. The former Portuguese colony in southern Africa is now the UN's number one priority on the continent. The 25-year old Civil war has flared again. Millions of people are homeless, the UN and relief agencies are struggling to get food and medicine to the most desperate areas. A UN appeal for assistance has raised only 54-per cent of its target, meanwhile 200-people die every day from malnutrition as a result of the lack of money and access to the people.
