Iraq: Weapons of Mass Destruction

Iraq: Weapons of Mass Destruction
7 minutes, 2004
Ref: 86

A report about who's really suffering. The U.N. is now re-examining sanctions against Iraq following mounting evidence that they have hurt innocent civilians more than the regime. Estimates of civilian deaths due to sanctions are between 300,000 and one million - due to disease, malnutrition and a shortage of drugs. They have cost Iraq more than $150 billion in oil exports. Now there's evidence that a shortage of animal vaccines could spread diseases to other countries. UN agricultural teams warn an outbreak of foot and mouth disease in cattle could seriously undermine the food supply of the entire Middle East.
