That is just one of the more extreme claims that's been made in the war of words centred on a popular Christian weight-loss program in the United States. Entrepreneur Gwen Shamblin has made a fortune from her Weigh-Down Workshops. Her spiritual goal is to substitute an obsession with food for an obsession with Jesus. But now Shamblin's critics claim she is not so much preaching weight loss as her own version of the scriptures - and that, of course, is heresy.
